Night Watch

Night WatchI meditate on thee in the night watches.
Psalm 63:6

From the Summer 2007 Fellowship Letter

Those of us who work the night watch at the Mission agree with the writer of the verse above.

The evening and early morning hours are a good time to read and meditate on God's Word. But it's also a time full of activity. The night watch at the Bluefield Union Mission is just as demanding as the daytime hours. We continuously respond to all types of emergencies throughout the night and into the morning.

Last year we provided shelter, transportation, and other types of assistance for more than 500 people... - most of which occurred during the night. It seems like every night we are called upon to deal with a natural disaster, human tragedy, or other urgent situation.  These are golden opportunities to share God's love with people in need.

The 911 Center, area police departments, the nursing staff of area hospital emergency rooms, the folks at the traveler information center, and the Courtesy Patrol officers all say that the Bluefield Union Mission is the only agency in our region that they can turn to for help - no matter what time of the day or night. We are on hand 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Your prayers and support make possible this around-the clock ministry of the Bluefield Union Mission.

In His Service,
Craig Hammond
